On orthogonal resolutions of the classical Steiner quadruple system SQS(16)

چکیده
A Steiner quadruple system SQS(16) is a pair (V,B) where V is a 16-set of objects and B is a collection of 4-subsets of V , called blocks, so that every 3-subset of V is contained in exactly one block. By classical is meant the boolean quadruple system, also known as the affine geometry AG(4,2). A parallel class is a collection of four blocks which partition V . The system possesses a resolution or parallelism, since B can be partitioned into 35 parallel classes. Two resolutions are called orthogonal when each parallel class of one resolution has at most one block in common with each parallel class of the other resolution. We prove that there are at most nine further resolutions which, together with the classical one, are pairwise orthogonal.

Classification of Flag-Transitive Steiner Quadruple Systems
A Steiner quadruple system of order v is a 3 − (v, 4, 1) design, and will be denoted SQS(v). Using the classification of finite 2-transitive permutation groups all SQS(v) with a flag-transitive automorphism group are completely classified, thus solving the ”still open and longstanding problem of classifying all flag-transitive 3− (v, k,1) designs” (cf. [5, p. 273], [6]) for the smallest value o...
متن کاملSteiner Quadruple Systems with Point-regular Abelian Automorphism Groups
Abstract. In this paper we present a graph theoretic construction of Steiner quadruple systems (SQS) admitting abelian groups as point-regular automorphism groups. The resulting SQS has an extra property which we call A-reversibility, where A is the underlying abelian group. In particular, when A is a 2-group of exponent at most 4, it is shown that an A-reversible SQS always exists. When the Sy...

A new algebraic structure (P ; q) of a Steiner quadruple systems SQS (P ; B) called an SQS-3-groupoid with q(x, x, y) = x (briefly: an SQS-3-quasigroup) is defined and some of its properties are described. Sloops are considered as derived algebras of SQS-skeins. Squags and also commutative loops of exponent 3 with x(xy) = y given in [7] are derived algebras of SQS-3-groupoids. The role of SQS-3...
متن کاملAffine - invariant quadruple systems
Let t, v, k, λ be positive integers satisfying v > k > t. A t-(v, k, λ) design is an ordered pair (V,B), where V is a finite set of v points, B is a collection of k-subsets of V , say blocks, such that every t-subset of V occurs in exactly λ blocks in B. In what follows we simply write t-designs. A 3-(v, 4, 1) design is called a Steiner quadruple system and denoted by SQS(v). It is known that a...
متن کاملSQS-graphs of extended 1-perfect codes
An extended 1-perfect code C folds over its kernel via the Steiner quadruple systems associated with its codewords. The resulting folding, proposed as a graph invariant for C, distinguishes among the 361 nonlinear codes C of kernel dimension κ with 9 ≥ κ ≥ 5 obtained via Solov’eva-Phelps doubling construction. Each of the 361 resulting graphs has most of its nonloop edges expressible in terms o...
